On Sundays KTC will offers a time for quiet sitting meditation that is open and free to the public.  Meditation instruction will be provided before the meditation sessions for newcomers or anyone who would like a review.  Afterwards, discussions will provide time to explore different aspects of meditation and allow for any questions. This is a great time for newcomers interesred in learning how to meditate, for experienced meditators looking to develop their practice further, or for any community members looking for a quiet space for meditation.

On Wednesdays KTC offers the Medicine Buddha meditation practice followed by a book discussion.  The Medicine Buddha is a chanted meditation.  Although a more advanced practice, all are welcome to join for the meditation and/or the book discussion.   Currently, the book discussion group is reading "Karmapa 900" which gives an overview of the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism.  This is the 900th year celebration of this tradition, one of the four main branches of Tibetan Buddhism.  See www.karmapa900.org/ for more information on this book and topic.

Visit to Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) Nov, 18-20
As has been the tradition of our center, KTC members visit KTD several times a year.  KTD is one of the few traditional monasteries in the U.S. Attending a weekend teaching (series of lectures) is a wonderful way to experience the Tibetan Buddhist tradition more fully.  The teaching on the weekend of November 18-20 will focus on the lives of the Karmapas, the spiritual leader of the Karma Kagyu tradiation. Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, the abbot of the monastery, will present the teaching.  Members will carpool for the drive to KTD located near Woodstock,NY.  It is approximately a 7 hour drive one way.  Prices for the teaching and accomodations can be found on the KTD website.  For more information on KTD, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, and the weekend teaching go tohttp://www.kagyu.org/ktd. Depending on schedules members will will leave around 11 am on Friday, November 18 in order to arrive for the first lecture in the evening at 7 pm. and return to Indiana either on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. It is not necessary to be a member of KTC or KTD to attend join this event.  If you are interested, please contact Linda Jennings at ljenning@iup.edu.
